Welcome to Thinking Outside of the Box. This book/study was created during the second-semester of my last year of college. I developed an incredible passion for eBay and wanted to explore what made it so special.
From a development standpoint eBay is a fairly simple endeavor neither pushing the limits of what is technically possible or introducing a completely new concept to the world. eBay was first to market with the idea of online auctions and as they say...timing is everything.
I don't mean to belittle the achievements of eBay. Certainly it is the undisputed online auction king. However what makes it the leader? Why can't a competitor offer the same service for just a bit less money, making it a more attractive site? With no experience in Sales or Marketing I wanted to know more. I started reading everything I could get my hands on concerning eBay, online marketing, online auctions, etc.
